Logan City Compost Facility

Project Details

About the Project

Alpine Excavating & Construction is currently performing full-site civil development for the Logan City Compost Facility. The scope consists of large-scale mass excavation, structural fill placement, underground utilities, and site improvements to support long-term municipal operations.

Work includes mass excavation and grading operations with approximately 70,000 tons of imported material, placed, moisture-conditioned, and compacted to meet geotechnical and structural requirements across the site.

Underground utility installation includes a complete storm drainage system, as well as a pump station system consisting of two 12-inch pumps discharging into a 16-inch force main, supplemented by an additional 4-inch pump and dedicated force main to support operational redundancy and capacity demands.

Surface improvements include installation of curb and gutter, placement of road base and asphalt paving, and construction of internal access routes designed for heavy truck traffic and continuous municipal use.

Additional infrastructure includes installation of water mains, fire hydrants, and sewer utilities, providing full service integration for the facility.

The project also includes construction of truck scales and a scale house, enabling Logan City to manage and monitor incoming and outgoing material volumes as part of daily operations.

This project requires precise coordination between earthwork, utilities, and structural elements, with a strong emphasis on compaction standards, drainage performance, and long-term durability under heavy-use conditions.
